We’ve added a summary on our preparations so far: route & vehicle. Visit https://roadmonkeys.wordpress.com/preparation/
Month: August 2015
MOT
Baloo’s MOT happened this last week. This was an important step to make before we handed over the money for the land rover, and took ownership.
Even before the test, a serious problem with the fuel tank was observed – it was leaking! The fuel tank and sender were replaced, and it was expected that the land rover would sail through…
Unfortunately, the land rover failed. There were issues with drop arm ball joint excess play, and steering column lower UJ play. Les provides an excellent tutorial on dealing with the former, but in true Lovejoy fashion, the drop arm assembly was replaced, as well as the steering column UJ… and then passed the MOT with no advisories.
We are very lucky to be taking over such a well looked after land rover. I hope it treats us as well as it did Craig!
Weekends
Baloo
We’ve named the land rover Baloo, after the wise, adventurous, and friendly character from the jungle book.
Thanks Phil for the suggestion!
The Route
The route is still changing daily, but we’ve added a page where we’ll keep the planning of it up to date. See https://roadmonkeys.wordpress.com/route/

Land Rover
A long and well kept secret has been our plan for a bit of an adventure, and this month we make a big step towards turning the dream into reality – by buying a land rover!
She comes to us after already demonstrating her calibre on a stunning 20,000 mile trip to Lake Baikal in Russia and back, skippered by Craig at bermudarover.wordpress.com.
